Lock Your Vehicles And Do Not Leave Valuables Inside When Parked Outside
The Legends Sub-Division has a history of vehicle break-ins when parked outside the closed garage. If you must leave valuables in the vehicle, hide them out of view as seen through the windows, such as under the seat or locked in the glove compartment. The pattern related to many of these break-ins seems to include the following: entry through an unlocked door; valuables visible from the windows; windows not broken; time of break-in usually during darkness.
If you experience any crime to your person or property, please immediately report it to the Boise Police Department. Secondly, if possible, please contact the Legends Neighborhood Watch Liaison @ talk2mide@msn.com and provide the details of the incident so the sub-division can be informed via website and email distribution. Lastly, please take time to send the HOA your updated emails so we can keep you updated on any neighborhood alerts or activities.
Leave Outside Porch/Garage Lights ON
It is very important to keep your outside porch and garage lights on all night. The cost is minimal and the reduction in crime of well-lighted neighborhoods is well documented. Considering that our neighborhood does not have yard lamp posts, it is even more important for people to keep the exterior of their homes well lit. If you would like additional information, check out the Home Security Book "Preventing Burglaries--How to Protect Your Home" in the Library section at the bottom of this page.
Door-To-Door Solicitors
You don't need to open your door to anyone you don't know or are not expecting. Use your wide-angle peephole or a window to see who is ringing your doorbell before you open the door. If you open your door to a solicitor, ask immediately for a Boise City license. Each sales person must be licensed by the city to sell products. If they don't have a city license, call police dispatch 377-6790, and give the dispatcher your location, the description of the sales people and their vehicle. Make sure to inform the dispatcher that the person(s) are unlicensed.
Citizens can tell Traffic Concerns to Police Online
Boise Police have created a way for citizens to communicate their neighborhood traffic concerns - go online. The new online traffic concern reporting system will send the citizens report directly to the BPD Patrol office, where it will be sent directly to officers who patrol that area. The online system will also provide a copy of the report to the citizen for them to document the report. Go to www.boisepolice.org and click on “Traffic Enforcement.” The site takes citizens through the steps to communicate a general or very specific traffic concern. Officers will use the reports either to increase enforcement, or to explore other possible solutions.

Vacation Checklist
A vacant house—or one that appears to be vacant—is an appealing target to a burglar. This is true during the work day when everyone may be at work or school, or during a vacation, a weekend away from home, or a business trip. This list helps you prepare your home for an upcoming vacation. Never give a burglar an even break.
