We Need Your Help!
Many of the events that take place within the Legends can only happen if people volunteer their time to help out. As you read through the various activities below, please consider ways you might be able to contribute to our efforts to make the Legends a fun and enjoyable neighborhood. Links are provided to let us know how you’d like to help. |
Easter Egg Hunt (March-April) [Return To Top]
This is a fun family event for children and parents alike. Over 100 dozen candy-filled plastic eggs are hidden in a selected section of the common area, including a special Golden Egg for each age group (under 4, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-14). Neighbors bring refreshments and treats. Games and fun events are available (inflatables, egg toss, bubble tubs, special guests, etc.). And of course the Easter Bunny makes an appearance! Last year over 125 children participated in this annual event. Click here for information about the 2010 Easter Egg hunt and how you can be part of this great family event.

Spring Planting (May) [Return To Top]
We organize an effort to beautify the front entrances to the Legends with an annual Spring Planting event. This is a 100% volunteer effort. Our landscaping maintenance company is responsible only for grass, trees and bushes—not flowering plants. Click here to volunteer!

Neighborhood Garage Sale (June) [Return To Top]
A one-day Neighborhood Garage Sale is scheduled for the benefit of all homeowners. This event is well-advertised, including large signs placed at the main entrances to the Legends on Eagle Road and McMillan Road. By focusing garage sale activity on this one day, it maximizes the number of potential shoppers and minimizes annoying and disruptive vehicle traffic that would otherwise occur if everyone held their own garage sale on a different day. Arrangements are usually made with a local charitable organization to pick up any unsold items that homeowners would like to donate. Communications in regard to the specific day, times and donation pick-up are provided in advance.
National Night Out (August) [Return To Top]
What is National Night Out? It's America's Night Out Against Crime, a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). It is a community-wide event involving citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide (over 34 million people participated in NNO 2005).
The Legends hosts a neighborhood National Night Out each year. It is a great way to get to know you’re your neighbors and discuss important issues of interest to all, including topics such as:
- Crime and drug prevention awareness
- Support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships

Holiday Light Contest (December) [Return To Top]
The Legends Holiday Light Contest promotes a festive atmosphere around holiday time in December. Modest cash prizes are awarded to add fun and competitiveness to the event. All homeowners can participate but only non-Board members can win a cash prize (the Board members serve as the judges). Judging takes place about a week before Christmas. Displays are judged on: creativity, theme, detail (whimsical, intricate), and overall visual impressiveness. To give more people a chance to win, anyone receiving prize money in a given year will be ineligible to receive prize money the following year.
Three winners will be determined, each receiving a $50 cash prize and a yard sign stating "Holiday Light Contest Winner!"
